How to get Easter eggs delivered to your home

WITH Easter Sunday just three days away, you might have missed your chance to add an Easter egg to your supermarket delivery.

But if you need one of the chocolate treats delivered to your front door - or you want to send one to someone else - there are other options available.

It is traditional to exchange Easter eggs on Easter Sunday, but as Good Friday is a bank holiday, there is only one more day that your post will be delivered before the day itself.

So you will need to rely on other delivery services - such as couriers - to get your chocolate to you.

Here are some of your options:

It is possible to order all sorts of groceries on Deliveroo from shops including the Co-op.

When we checked earlier today, Co-op was selling a number of different Easter chocolates via the delivery app.

Large Easter eggs, including KitKat Chunky, Smarties and a range of Cadbury brands were all £8, while a 12-pack of Creme Eggs were £6.65.

It was also selling a Fairtrade Easter egg hunt kit for £6.65.

Co-op was limiting customers to three of each product.

Remember, delivery can be expensive depending on how close your nearest Co-op is, so you will need to factor that in when you place your order.

And prices are generally higher than in supermarkets: the same large Easter eggs are on sale for three for £8 in Tesco.

Lots of smaller local shops are also listed on Deliveroo, so it is worth checking what they are offering in your area.

There are lots of eggs still for sale on Amazon, and if you have Prime you may be able to get it delivered on time.

However, lots of the products we checked wouldn’t be back in stock until next week - meaning it is too late for Easter.

The other alternative is finding an Amazon Fresh delivery slot.

Amazon’s grocery service has been hugely busy over the last few weeks, but if you were lucky enough to find a slot for tomorrow or Saturday, you could add an Easter egg to your order.

We found a fancy Green & Black's organic milk chocolate Easter egg for £8.

Chocolate maker Thorntons has temporarily closed its website after a rush of orders, but it says it will be back online from 9am tomorrow, so you will be able to order then.

Standard delivery for online orders costs £3.95 for orders under £35 or is free for orders worth more than that.

But the website says delivery time is three to five days - too late for Easter this year.

You do have the option to pay £5.95 for next day delivery, which is delivered between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays.

So if you order tomorrow, you could get your products on Saturday.

The retailer has a good selection of Easter treats in stock, including this cute milk chocolate Easter bunny for £8.

Department store John Lewis stocks a range of Easter chocolate - although when we checked on Thursday morning there wasn’t a lot of stock left.

However, you could still buy a Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Spread Egg Sandwich for £10, or a packet of John Lewis own-brand dark chocolate and salted caramel gold mini eggs for £8.

If you order by 8pm, you can get small items delivered the next day for £6.95 - making this quite an expensive way to buy chocolate.

But it might just get to you before Easter Sunday.
