Eurovision 2022: Watch the Semi-Final Interval Acts

Il Volo, Diodato, Mika and Laura Pausini were just some of the interval acts of the two Semi-Finals of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.

If you tuned in to our two Eurovision Semi-Finals this week, you'll have seen the grand performances of no less than 35 of our 2022 participants across the two shows, with 20 of them having progressed to Saturday night's Grand Final to be watched again. Four extra special performances which you won't be seeing on TV again, however, are our Semi-Final Interval Acts. And yet they do bear repeating!

Our Italian hosts, broadcaster Rai, had a line-up of entertainment in store for us that was so special, we would need to switch to the Italian language in order to find a word that would do it justice – 'bellissimo’!

From an Italian trio who almost won Eurovision, to an Italian song which sadly never made it to Eurovision, and from a celebration of Italian dance music to a perfomance from our Turin hosts, we got to watch an eclectic mix of musical magic over the two Semi-Finals. If you missed it, or if you’d simply like to watch it all again (understandble, really), we’ve gathered them all together for you in one handy place.

First Semi-Final

The first interval act of the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was The Dance of Beauty, a fabulous medley that celebrated decades of Italian dance music and Italo-disco that has been exported around the globe. The electric performance featured Benny Benassi, Dardust and Sophie and the Giants.

The second interval act of the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was Fai Rumore by Diodata, the song he would have sung in Rotterdam 2020.

Diodato won the 70th Sanremo Festival back in 2020 with the song Fai Rumore – which topped the Italian charts and looked set to captivate an international audience at the Contest scheduled for May 2020 in Rotterdam. However, as we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everybody’s plans and prevented the artist from Aosta representing his home country, Italy, in the Netherlands.

Second Semi-Final

Two of our hosts, Laura Pausini and Mika, duet together in the Second Semi-Final, singing the songs Fragile (a Sting cover) and People Have The Power (a cover of the Patti Smith classic).

Eurovision legends Il Volo take to the stage on home turf, performing their 2015 third-place finishing song Grande Amore. Unfortunately, Gianluca from the band had to join Piero and Ignazio from a safe social distance, and so while they performed on stage at the PalaOlimpico, he dialled in from home, appearing on screen behind his two bandmates.

The Grand Final takes place on Saturday 14 May. We’ve put together a useful guide on everything you need to know about how to watch and enjoy the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, in Turin, Italy.
