Dinesh Karthik scored 55 runs off 27 balls to produce a Man of the Match winning performance against South Africa in the 4th T20I.
The 37-year-old became the oldest Indian to score a half-century in T20Is, surpassing MS Dhoni.
In his innings he hit nine fours and two sixes.
Dinesh Karthik produced a man of the match performance on Friday (June 17) to help India defeat South Africa in the fourth T20I and level the series 2-2. The lower middle-order batsman smashed his first half-century in the shortest format of the game, top scoring for the Men in Blue with 55 runs off 27 balls. In the process, the 37-year-old became the oldest Indian to score a half-century in T20Is, surpassing MS Dhoni.
In fact, Karthik scored his maiden T20I fifty in his 36th game, 16 years after he made his debut in India's first-ever T20I game against the Proteas. India were struggling when Rishabh Pant got out in the 13th over with the score reading 81-4. Karthik then came into bat, with vice-captain Hardik Pandya batting at the other end.
After settling himself by knocking the first few of his balls, he went hammer and tongs against the Proteas bowlers, smashing nine fours and two sixes in his innings. He smashed 12 runs in the in the 17th over off Keshav Maharaj and 14 runs in the 18th over which was bowled by Dwaine Pretorius. In the 20th over, Karthik smashed Pretorius on the first ball of the over to bring up his half-century. The former Kolkata Knight Riders captain shared a 65-run stand with Pandya to help India get back in the game. His innings helped India post a total of 169 after being 95/4 in 15 overs.

Karthik at 37 years and 16 days becomes the oldest Indian player to hit a half-century in the shortest format of the game. Former skipper MS Dhoni previously held the record, scoring his second T20I fifty in 2018 against South Africa.
After posting a healthy total on the board, the Indian bowlers ran riot on South Africa, and the Proteas batsman could never get into the game, finally being bundled out for 87. Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up four wickets. India thus recorded their biggest margin of victory (by runs) against South Africa as they won by 82 runs.
