Mandy Allwood became known to the world in 1996 when it was revealed that she was pregnant with 8 children.

She is the first known British woman to give birth to eight children, taking place in three days, but her story doesn’t have a happy ending, sadly.

Mandy went into labor after just 19 weeks of pregnancy and none of her 6 boys or 2 girls survived.

A media storm ensued when Mandy turned down selective reduction – a procedure in which doctors reduce the number of fetuses in multiples – because she was given a 50-50 chance of having twins. if she goes ahead of the procedure.

Mandy’s life turns sad after the deaths of her children, named Adam, Cassius, Donald, Kypros, Martyn, Nelson, Layne, and Kitali.

She fell into an inexplicable depression, which led to suicide attempts and alcoholism.

She and Paul Hudson, the couple’s biological father, will also go on to divorce.

She went on to have three children.

Mandy died in 2022 after a battle with cancer.

She was laid to rest at the funeral of a poor man after she was estranged from her family.

Mandy’s friend Mark Beard, 58, said: ‘She had been struggling with cancer for a while and had surgery before Christmas but recently told us it came back. I don’t know what kind of cancer it is.”

Mark, the owner of the Yard of Ale pub in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warks, revealed Mandy would show up twice a week.

“She blends in very well and is always available to chat,” he said.

“She’s a bit eccentric and messy but that’s why we love her.

“She sometimes talks about what happened to her, to her eight babies. People often ask her about it.

“When we first met, she told us who she was and she said she’d appeared in magazines before but that’s all.”
