Woolworths Oran Park on alert after Great Beginnings Childcare Centre COVID-19 cluster grows

All staff and children who attended the centre earlier this month must get tested and self-isolate immediately.

A Woolworths supermarket in Sydney’s southwest has been placed on alert after a COVID-19 cluster linked to a nearby childcare centre grew.

New South Wales recorded five new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 on Saturday and a further two infections detected in returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

Among the new cases are a family-of-three who attended the Great Beginnings Childcare Centre in Oran Park, as well as an educator who works at the centre.

All four cases are close contacts of a known case linked to the Oran Park cluster, which now totals 18.

All staff and children who attended the centre between October 2 and 13 are advised to get tested and self-isolate immediately regardless of their test result.

NSW Health said contact tracing and investigations are continuing.

Woolworths warning

One new case visited Woolworths Oran Park on Oran Park Drive, on Friday October 12 from 7pm to 7:30pm.

Anyone who was at this store during this time is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms.

The state has now recorded 4,144 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
