Australian mother wins $40 million Division One Powerball jackpot and 19 Division Two prizes
An Australian mum has scored the entire $40 million Powerball jackpot and, incredibly also won 19 Division Two prizes.
The woman. from the Brisbane suburb of Taringa, was the sole winner of the huge jackpot in last night’s draw.
But, her luck wasn’t only limited to the Division One jackpot. She also netted more than half a million dollars in division two prizes, taking her total winnings to $40,532,533.
The woman broke down over her unbelievable luck and told Lotto officials it made her feel “free”.
“My heart is about to beat through my chest,” she said.
“You have no idea what this means to me. It’s a dream come true. I am feeling so breathless! I think I might faint or throw up!
“This is insane. I can’t believe this is happening! My mind is all over the place. I can’t stop shaking. I feel so free!”
The woman said she had recently fallen on hard times and her new riches were a huge relief.
She plans to help her friends and family and travel around Australia.
“I am going to get a house and I want to share it with my family,” she said of how she would spend the money,” she said.
“I will also help some of my friends that have done so much for me.
“I am going to retire too and then I will spend my time travelling around Australia, instead of working!
“What can’t I do?”
This week, a mum from Perth’s northern suburbs won $1.25 million, which she credited to a fortune teller’s prediction a year earlier.
The 56-year-old woman barely played Lotto until she visited a clairvoyant a year ago and was told she would win.
The woman said she couldn’t believe she’d scored the jackpot and timidly called Lotterywest, where staff confirmed her new riches.
“I was buying this week’s Powerball ticket online and thought I’d just check my OZ Lotto numbers at the same time and couldn’t believe it,” the winner said.
“I was calm, but it didn’t seem real as I thought, ‘Will someone call me?’ but no one did and so I thought I’d imagined it.
“I then, very shyly, called Lotterywest in the morning and they verified it for me.”
