Last week, Queen Elizabeth was hospitalized "for some preliminary investigations," and advised to rest by medical staff. Buckingham Palace confirmed the British monarch's hospital stay after a story was published in the Sun.
"Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits," reads a statement released Thursday evening by a spokesperson.
Buckingham Palace did not specify why the Queen was hospitalized as she is entitled to medical privacy, but she was back at her desk in Windsor Castle the next day. And yesterday, she held two virtual engagements, one with Gunn Kim, the newly named Ambassador from the Republic of Korea to the Court of St James's and another with Markus Leitner, the Ambassador from the Swiss Confederation to the Court of St James's.

Buckingham Palace also recently confirmed that the Queen will not attend the United Nations climate change conference (COP26) next month, again upon "advise to rest." While she won't be there in person, she will virtually address the delegates.
"Following advice to rest, The Queen has been undertaking light duties at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty has regretfully decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow to attend the Evening Reception of COP26 on Monday, 1st November," reads a statement released on Tuesday.
"Her Majesty is disappointed not to attend the Reception but will deliver an address to the assembled delegates via a recorded video message."
