Sia accuses Shia LaBeouf of 'conning her into an adulterous relationship' in wake FKA Twigs lawsuit
Australian singer Sia has taken to Twitter to accuse actor Shia LaBeouf of unknowingly conning her into an “adulterous relationship” amid a new lawsuit filed against him by fellow singer FKA twigs.
Sia, 44, labelled LaBeouf a “pathological liar” and claimed that the Transformers actor mistreated her.
“I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single,” Sia shared on Twitter.
“I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims.
“Just know, if you love yourself - stay safe, stay away.”
LaBeouf, who starred in the music video for Sia’s hit Elastic Heart, is being accused of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress, by 32-year-old singer FKA twigs.
Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, filed a lawsuit on Friday in a Los Angeles court alleging that LaBeouf abused her - both emotionally and physically during their relationship in 2019.
She also alleges that he gave her an STD.
In one incident described in Twig’s lawsuit against LaBeouf, she alleges that he threatened to crash the car they were driving in, just days after Valentine’s Day 2019, if she didn’t tell him she loved him.
Twigs claims that after she begged to be let out of the car, LaBeouf pulled over at a petrol station and assaulted her - throwing her up against the car at one point.
“I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency,” Twigs told The New York Times.
LaBeouf is also alleged to have knowingly given his girlfriend Twigs, who said she didn’t initially report the alleged assaults out of fear of harming her career, a sexually transmitted disease and grabbing her so hard that she would bruise.
LaBeouf told The New York Times that he is ashamed of his battles with alcohol and aggression.
“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel,” he told The Times in an email.
“I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations.
“I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years.
“I have a history of hurting the people closest to me.
“I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.
“There is nothing else I can really say.”
At the time LaBeouf appeared in Sia’s 2015 music video, she was married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang.
Sia and Lang had wed in 2014 and revealed that they were separating in December 2016.
It is not clear when Sia and LaBeouf were in a relationship.
