Tatiana Maslany IS Marvel's She-Hulk, Ruffalo, Roth Join Cast

At Disney Investor Day, Marvel confirmed that Tatiana Maslany will star as She-Hulk and that Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth have joined the cast.

At the Disney Investor Day presentation, Marvel announced that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany will star as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk in the Disney+ series.

Kevin Feige, who represented Marvel at the event, also confirmed that Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth will reprise their roles as Hulk and Abomination, respectively. While Ruffalo is a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Roth has not appeared as his villainous character since 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Feige also teased that, due to Walters' legal career, she will be crossing paths with some well-known Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, and described the series as comedic.

Maslany's role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) She-Hulk was reported by Deadlinein mid-September, but she denied the report a month later. Marvel did not comment on the report at the time. The casting of Ruffalo and Roth come following reports that the series is casting  a female villain under the current codename Lucy. According to the description, she is a social media guru (think Kardashian) with a dark side. She is expected to play a prominent role in the series and will appear in at least five episodes.

The drama is also looking to cast Walters' parents in supporting roles and a male co-worker in his late twenties or thirties. Finally, Walter's best friend — codenamed Susie — is also on the casting list. The series is looking for an Asian-American to play the part and wants someone with comedy experience.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Buscema, She-Hulk first appeared in The Savage She-Hulk #1 in Feb. 1980. After she suffers an injury, Walters receives a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner, giving her a more mild version of the Hulk's powers. This gives her superhuman strength but allows her to maintain her emotional and intellectual intelligence.

Developed for television by Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) and directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, She-Hulk is slated to premiere exclusively on Disney+. The series stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth.
