Former wrestling star Tommy 'Tiny' Lister dead at 62
The wrestling world is in mourning after former No Holds Barred star Tommy 'Tiny' Lister Jr was found dead at age 62.
Lister was found unconscious in his Marina Del Rey home and was pronounced dead on the scene with the cause of death yet to be determined.
Lister's manager Cindy Cowan said he had displayed symptoms of COVID-19 in recent days and had to cancel shooting on a film he had been working on after falling ill.
"He was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. Everyone loved him. A real gentle giant," she said, "We're all devastated."
The 6'5" (196cm) Lister played the role of Zeus in the Hulk Hogan movie No Holds Barred, the brutal antagonist, before being pitted against Hogan in WWE and WCW matches.
After making his wrestling debut in 1989 off the back of his role in the Hogan movie, Lister periodically wrestled, including in the WWC in Puerto Rico, before finishing up his career in 1996.
Following a brief wrestling career, Lister had an extremely successful acting career, playing an iconic role as Deebo in Friday, while he also appeared in The Dark Knight and Zootopia.
