10 Years Of One Direction: Fans Are Nostalgic But Confused As They Wait For Anniversary Updates

10 Years Of One Direction Fans Are Nostalgic But Confused As They Wait For Anniversary Updates
1D fandoms’ disappointment of the band 18-month hiatus in 2016 that didn’t end (5 years and counting) has been revived.

One Direction, the once-influential boy band completes 10 years since their debut on July 23. The British boy band became a breakout hit with the release of 'What Makes You Beautiful' back in 2011 putting bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik on the map of global pop music. Their debut track was the ultimate catchy summer tune and led to the unwitting birth of their massive fandom (full of teens who will grow up to maybe cringe at their 1D obsession). During their successful run together, the band broke records, entertained stadiums full of fans before ultimately going their separate ways. That being said, 1D had and still has a cult fandom and it's revived just in time to celebrate 10 years of One Direction. Close to the 10-year anniversary, fans are feeling a lot of feelings about their journey. Some are still holding on to hopes for a reunion although the band went on a hiatus in 2016 which was initially supposed to last 18 months.

Ahead of the anniversary, 1D fans are taking a trip down memory lane and revelling in nostalgia. Here's how Twitter is paying homage to One Direction:
