Sylvester Stallone: Surprising reason for fight that sparked Jennifer Flavin divorce

Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin reportedly had a huge argument over a pet dog before Flavin filed for divorce, it has emerged.

Sources connected to the couple told TMZ Stallone, 76, wished to get a pet Rottweiler for protection but Flavin, 54, didn’t approve.

The publication claimed an “extremely heated” argument ensued which “brought up other issues”.

Stallone is reported to have been blindsided by Flavin’s divorce request, having thought the duo could work out their differences.

He did, however, get the dog - named Dwight after the character on his new show Tulsa King.

Stallone proceeded to rave about his new furry companion in a series of Instagram posts.

“’DWIGHT’ Definitely a true friend! KeepPunching And Keep barking! “ the Rocky actor wrote in one.

“I TRULY feel for people that have lost their great beloved Pets… ! Tragically, It is a loss that never fully fades…” he wrote in another.

“So Everyday you must cherish their REAL love while it is here, Because once it’s gone it’s never quite the same .. Keep Punching Pet lovers.”

The dog row may go some way to explaining why Stallone had a tattoo of his wife covered up by one of a dog recently.

The artwork sparked speculation after tattooist Zach Perez shared a photo on Instagram of him working on a design on Stallone’s arm. He also shared the finished result to social media.

“Mr Stallone intended to refresh the tattoo image of his wife Jennifer; however, the results were unsatisfactory and, unfortunately, unfixable,” Stallone’s publicist Michelle Bega previously told the Daily Mail ahead of the divorce announcement.

“Mr Stallone loves his family. The Stallones are presently filming a reality show together which will debut on Paramount+.”

Shortly afterwards, however, Stallone confirmed he and Flavin were “amicably and privately” dealing with issues.

“I love my family,” Stallone said in a statement to CNN.

“We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues.”

Flavin filed her petition in Palm Beach County, Florida on Friday, “for dissolution of marriage and other relief”.

“While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared,” Flavin told People.

“I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters.

“I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward.”

Stallone and Flavin share three daughters together, Scarlet, 20, Sistine, 24, and Sophia, 25.
