Accused murderer's phone recordings could be key to wife's tractor ...
Police are reviewing recordings made on the phone of a Queensland man accused of murdering his wife, who died from critical injuries after an incident involving a tractor slasher.
Yadwinder Singh, 44, has been charged with murder and interfering with a corpse, after the body of his wife, Amarjit Kaur Sardar, was found at their property in Woodhill, south of Brisbane, on Thursday morning.
Police said Singh called emergency services to report the death of his 41-year-old wife. Paramedics rushed to the property on reports of an incident involving machinery.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight told reporters the couple were married with two teenage children, and lived at the farming property.
Court documents show Singh, whose occupation is listed as a truck driver, was born in Khabe Rajputan, India.
“There were some observations our investigators made on our initial triage with the scene that gave us concerns there may have been some manipulation of the crime scene,” he said.
“He reported that his wife had passed away and there were some limited follow-up questions fed to him by the [ambulance] operators.”
When asked if Singh reported it as an accident, Knight said: “I’m not sure they were his words, but that probably is a fair assessment.”
