Bride and Prejudice episode four: Insane offer from Fatima stuns Jess

AS cracks start to appear in Jess’ relationship with fiance Seyat the 20-year-old bride-to-be is given the most tempting of offers; take $10,000 and disappear overseas.

Just when it seemed the judgmental stars — sorry we mean parents — of Bride and Prejudice couldn’t get any worse Monday night’s episode proved the opposite.

After each couple’s family members had their first group therapy they were sent away with the task of finding a way to reach out to their child’s future spouse and share their concerns in a mature, constructive way.

Unfortunately for Jess, Seyat’s mum Fatima saw this as a green light to go ahead and attempt to bribe her son’s fiancee with a plane ticket and envelope full of cash.

“I just want her away from my life — how are we going to get rid of this Jess?” Fatima says.

Seyat is still struggling to stand up to his mum and when asked why he loved Jess could only mumble that she was good at taking care of his life admin.

“What is so good about her?” Fatima demands to know.

“She will do my emails for me, she will send people emails for me,” Seyat mumbles back.

The young couple are feeling the pressure over their upcoming wedding and Jess is crestfallen to learn that Seyat isn’t keen on going ahead with their wedding unless his parents agree to it.

“I feel like my mum wants me to stay home because she’s scared of Jess controlling me, she’s scared of losing me,” Seyat admits to Jess, who shoots a seriously admirable death stare at the cameras.

“I need their blessing because I need to know that I am doing the right thing marrying Jess.”

When Fatima asks Jess to come meet her alone, a nervous Jess doesn’t know what to expect.

“You know how you wanted to travel overseas? You still want to travel don’t you?” Fatima asks.

“Yeah of course,” Jess replies, confused.

But Fatima’s plans become abundantly clear when she slides an envelope full of cash towards Jess.

“And you wanted lots of money? Because you told me you don’t have money,” Fatima continues.

“Well I’m here to offer you $10,000, in cash and a trip overseas all over the world, I’ve got the ticket and the money here for you.

“So I would (like you to) consider (and) take this now and leave Seyat because you and I know there will be problems. I want you to take this now and leave.”

Shocked, Jess’ eyes dart between Fatima and the envelope sitting between them and before we can find out what her answer is the scene cuts, meaning we will have to find out tomorrow night because that’s how reality TV works.

Predictably, viewers went wild over Fatima’s Mafia-style tactics and advised Jess to take the money and run.
