Hanukkah musical program set for Dec. 29 The Plumas Sun

Sierra Christian Church is presenting a Hanukkah musical program Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. and welcomes all to join to foster a deeper understanding of the Jewish Festival of Lights called Hanukkah.  

Holly Bayly will introduce Hanukkah through music and a presentation. “For Christians, Hanukkah offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the themes of faith, dedication, and the triumph of light over darkness—values that resonate deeply with both faith traditions,” Bayly said.  

The story of Hanukkah emphasizes the importance of religious freedom, the resilience of faith, and God’s miracles, which are central to both Jewish and Christian beliefs, she added. The presentation is a chance to explore the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and learn about the festival Jesus would have celebrated in his lifetime, Bayly said.
