Apple has released a low-cost version of the iPhone 16, changing the way it brands its budget models and taking the opportunity to part ways with a partner that was increasingly becoming a rival.

The new model, known as the iPhone 16e, will be $400 cheaper and have fewer cameras and buttons than the current iPhone 16 models when it comes out on February 28. But the phone will still run on the same main chip, the A18, and it will be fast enough to use Apple’s latest software features, the company said.
