"The last thing I Googled? 'Skull shaver!'"

How do you celebrate a win?
First of all, you’re happy. And you think about, OK, what am I going to tell the players? What message do I want to give them? Then I go back to my family and friends and have a glass of wine, sometimes a bit of cheese – which is typically Dutch as well.
What is your one rule as a manager?
I didn’t implement many rules, Jürgen [Klopp] left such a good culture behind in terms of discipline and probably the players, because they know what it takes to perform at this level and don’t even need to have rules when it comes to being on time or all these rules – no, that was absolutely not necessary to have.
What is your favourite meal?
I think that would be a pasta, Italian food I like a lot.
Have you tried Scouse the food?
Not that I’m aware of but our kitchen staff prepare so many great foods and like all the things that have tasted really well, that’s probably also [the same].
Who is the greatest Liverpool player of all time?
The one that stands out for me I think is Steven Gerrard.
Who is the greatest Dutch player to play in the Premier League?
I’m not going to pick one from Liverpool. The one that stands out for me is Dennis Bergkamp.
What was the last thing you Googled?
Skull shaver! [Laughs]
What is your favourite city you have visited, and why?
It’s New York, we’ve been there with the children and my wife. Very special.
What trophy do you most want to win with Liverpool?
I think we would love to win every trophy that we can win, but if we can pick one then we would prefer to win the Premier League.
Which current Liverpool player reminds you most of yourself in your playing days?
That would not be a compliment for any current player! So let’s not name someone because that would, like I said, not be a compliment. These players are so far above me when it comes to quality, so let’s not be tempted to name one.
Are there any other sports you watch and take inspiration from?
I like to watch golf, especially if the Masters are on. Inspiration not in terms of tactics but it can be when it comes to what these players do for their sports or what it takes to play in team sports.
What TV show are you watching right now?
On Netflix, I’m watching the Saudi Arabia documentary at the moment, from Ronaldo, Neymar and all these other players.
When you see Liverpool fans, what is the first thing they say to you?
‘Can we have an autograph? Can we have a picture?’ Haha! That might be the thing I’ve heard most. They’re really passionate, you can feel the love for their club.
