Lion dominates VFL despite playing seniors day before, club gets walloped by 181 points
Despite making an appearance in Friday night’s AFL game, Mitch Robinson had a fill-up in Saturday’s VFL game against Melbourne.
Robinson came on in the fourth quarter for Jarrod Berry who succumbed to an ankle injury at the Gabba. The wingman, a recognised big celebrator, barely raised an arm when he kicked a late goal for Brisbane as his side went down by 58 points on Friday night.
He played 19 per cent of that game.
But Robinson and his club got some sort of revenge on Saturday when their reserves downed Melbourne 71-57 in the VFL.
The 33-year-old gathered 41 disposals, 10 clearances, 10 marks and 10 inside 50s in one of his best games in recent memories, albeit against lesser opposition, to be his side’s best.
James Jordan, who was Melbourne’s unused medical sub on Friday night, was among his side’s most influential and finished with 26 disposals and six clearances.

Other standout performances on Saturday included Joel Amartey booting four majors for the Swans in a 57-point win over Box Hill, while Josh Schache kicked 7.3 for the Bulldogs in a mammoth 116-point win over GWS.
But in shocking scenes, that wasn’t the biggest win of the day. That mantle belonged with Werribee, who pummelled the Northern Bullants by 181 points.

The Bullants went goalless for the game while conceding 29 majors to Werribee. They booted 20.8 in the second half.
Southport also beat Coburg by 106 points on the same day, meaning the competition saw three 100+ wins on the same day.
