UFC star Ian Garry remains unbeaten with frustrating win over Geoff
Irish prospect Garry came into his fight against Geoff Neal on a 13-fight winning streak and he remained unbeaten with an unentertaining points win

Ian Garry kept his unbeaten streak intact with a frustrating points win against Geoff Neal at UFC 298.

Garry came into the fight with a lot of pressure on his shoulders having been relentlessly trolled ever since a satirical book published by his wife Layla resurfaced online. The book, titled 'How to be a WAG', jokingly instructed women on how to attract a famous sportsmen.

Neal tried to break Garry down in the first round and avoid being caught with counter shots by pressing him against the fence and landing shots in the clinch. Garry was starting to mix up his strikes on the feet and Neal wanted nothing to do with it, trying his best to make the fight ugly to avoid Garry's knees and kicks.

There were boos from the Los Angeles crowd whenever Garry was being held in the clinch in the second round. Both men were struggling to land anything significant and find their rhythm in a somewhat underwhelming fight. Neal's coach Sayif Saud was furious with him at the end of the second round and pleaded with him to move forward in the final stanza.

Garry was running circles around Neal in the last five minutes and connected with several good knees to the body. The judges scored it 30-27, 28-29 and 30-27 in Garry's favour after the final bell as he improved to 14-0. Garry was booed by the crowd as he gave his post-fight interview and called for a fight against Colby Covington next.

“Geoff hits hard. You’ve got to give respect to he guy. Ive seen him hit people and turn their lights out. I knew I might have to take 15-minutes and jab away at him because he's very dangerous. Colby Covington is a on a three-fight losing skid and I want to retire him for good. I’m going to take him out and make him pay for everything he’s ever said," Garry said.
